American Museum of Natural History, in New York City, is a museum that works to educate the public and advance the study of natural science. The museum’s scientific departments conduct research in such areas as anthropology, paleontology, zoology, and the physical sciences. The museum also has departments of education and exhibition, a research library, and the Rose Center for Earth and Space, which includes the Hayden Planetarium. The museum was incorporated in 1869.
