Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) is an independent political organization that urges government action to promote and maintain liberal policies. The ADA favors action to protect and extend civil rights, to expand programs to provide economic security for all, and to improve international cooperation.
The ADA tries to influence legislators and other public officials. It publishes materials to influence public opinion, and campaigns to elect liberal candidates.
The ADA was founded in 1947 and has regional and local chapters. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
