Aspen

Aspen, Colorado (pop. 7,004), once a rich silver-mining center, is now a year-round resort. It lies at an altitude of 7,930 feet (2,417 meters) on the Roaring Fork River in west-central Colorado. It is one of the most popular ski centers in the western United States, with four mountains for downhill skiing and about 60 miles (97 kilometers) of trails for cross-country skiing.
