Bari

Bari, << BAHR ee >> (pop. 316,140), is a busy seaport on the southern Adriatic coast of Italy. Bari is the capital of the Puglia (Apulia) region, one of Italy’s political regions. Bari is a trade and manufacturing center. As early as the 400’s B.C., Bari was an important town. It has been destroyed and rebuilt three times. Each year, thousands of pilgrims visit the Church of St. Nicholas, which was founded in 1087. The original Saint Nicholas is buried there.
