Barron Gorge

Barron Gorge is a steep depression formed by the Barron River as it flows through northern Queensland, Australia, from the Atherton Tableland to the sea. The gorge lies between Kuranda and Cairns. It is heavily shaded and is banked in places by thick rain forests. The Barron Falls are 10 miles (16 kilometers) from the mouth of the river and 11 miles (18 kilometers) northwest of Cairns. They drop 770 feet (235 meters) in a number of cascades.
