Bayreuth, << by ROYT or BY royt >> (pop. 70,808), is a commercial and industrial center in Germany. It lies northeast of Nuremberg in the state of Bavaria.
The home and grave of the composer Richard Wagner are in Bayreuth. Many tourists come to the city for summer music festivals that celebrate Wagner’s music. Wagner’s father-in-law, the composer Franz Liszt, is also buried in Bayreuth. The town has many museums.
