Ben Nevis, << NEE vihs or NEHV ihs, >> is the highest mountain in the United Kingdom. The mountain is in western Scotland, 7 miles (11 kilometers) east of Fort William. Ben Nevis rises 4,413 feet (1,345 meters) above sea level. A cliff 1,500 feet (457 meters) high is on the northeastern slope.
