Benaud, Richie (1930-2015), captained the Australian cricket team in 28 Tests from 1958 to 1963, before retiring unbeaten in any Test series. Test matches are part of the highest level of international cricket competition. Benaud scored 2,201 runs and took 248 wickets in 63 Tests from 1952 to 1964. He was the first Test cricketer to do the double of 2,000 runs and 200 wickets. After retiring from the game, he worked as a journalist and television commentator with a Sydney television station and the British Broadcasting Corporation.
Richard Benaud was born on Oct. 6, 1930, at Penrith, New South Wales. He died on April 10, 2015.
