Black Country is a region in England that includes southern Staffordshire, northern Hereford and Worcester, and part of the West Midlands. The Black Country has coal mines, iron foundries, and steel mills. Birmingham dominates the area. The city of Wolverhampton and the towns of Walsall, West Bromwich, Dudley, and Warley also lie in the region. The name Black Country came from the smoke of its industries.
