Colonel Blimp was a character created by English cartoonist Sir David Low after World War I (1914-1918). The colonel was a plump, pompous former military officer with a white walrus moustache. Colonel Blimp represented a person out of date in his conceptions and out of touch with reality. He opposed anything new and came to symbolize any individual with reactionary or stuffy attitudes. Low made him the subject of many satirical cartoons.
