Border terrier is one of the oldest English breeds of terriers. The dog comes from the border country of northern England. It has a slim body and a broad, flat head with turned-down ears. Its wiry coat may be red and tan, blue and tan, or golden brown. For dog shows, the American Kennel Club requires border terriers to weigh from 111/2 to 151/2 pounds (5 to 7 kilograms).
