Boston terrier is a small, energetic dog that originated in Boston in 1870. It was the first breed developed in the United States.
The Boston terrier’s has a smooth, dark, shiny coat. In color, it may be brindle (streaked light and dark), seal (a very dark, reddish brown), or black with white markings, usually on the head and neck. The Boston terrier has a compact body, a square head, and a short nose. The dog stands 15 to 17 inches (38 to 43 centimeters) tall at the shoulder and weighs about 12 to 25 pounds (5.4 to 11 kilograms).
The Boston terrier has an alert and kind expression. It is highly intelligent, amusing, and lively. Boston terriers tend to enjoy human companionship and are thus popular pets. See also Terrier.
