Caernarvonshire, << kahr NAHR vuhn sheer or kahr NAHR vuhn shur, >> was a county in northwestern Wales. The area is known for its magnificent mountain scenery, which includes 3,560-foot (1,085-meter) Snowdon, the highest mountain in England and Wales. Caernarvonshire was abolished as an administrative area in 1974, when it became part of the new county of Gwynedd.
