Calcimine, << KAL suh myn, >> also spelled Kalsomine, was the forerunner of modern latex paints. Manufacturers make calcimine by mixing glue and whiting (powdered chalk) with water. However, painters rarely use calcimine anymore because it rubs off easily and cannot support extra coats of paint.
