Camel’s-hair cloth is a soft, medium-weight woolen cloth made from the fur of the Bactrian camel. In spring, the camel loses its winter coat and grows a new one. The fur comes off in large pieces, which are gathered and processed.
Camel fur consists of long, coarse hairs that yield poor fibers, and short, fine hairs that produce a soft, warm cloth. The cloth is used to make blankets, coats, shawls, and suits.
