Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii, is a Marine Corps base that serves as headquarters of the United States Indo-Pacific Command. This command controls military forces from the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. Its area of responsibility extends from the North Pacific Ocean to the South Pole, and from the Indian Ocean to waters extending thousands of miles east of Hawaii. The camp lies northwest of Honolulu. It was established in 1942 as a naval hospital and depot. In 1955, it was named for General Holland M. Smith.
