Caracal

Caracal << KAR uh kal >> is a member of the cat family that resembles the lynxes. It lives in dry regions and is found in India and in many places throughout Africa. Like the lynxes, the caracal has tufts of long hair on the tips of its ears. The lynx has brown tufts, but the caracal’s are black. The caracal has reddish-brown fur. It is one of the Carnivora, a group that eats meat and hunts other animals. Its fur should not be confused with caracul, a commonly used fur that comes from the Karakul, a breed of Asiatic sheep.
