Chaco Culture National Historical Park

Chaco << CHAHK oh, >> Culture National Historical Park, in northwestern New Mexico, has numerous large, prehistoric ruins of the Ancestral Pueblo, a Native American people once known as the Anasazi. The best-known ruin, Pueblo Bonito, was an ancient apartment building with more than 600 rooms. The area was established as a national monument in 1907 and became a national historical park in 1980.
