Chagres << CHAH grehs >> River is a chief source of water for the Panama Canal. The Chagres rises in the mountains of eastern Panama and flows southwest. It then empties into Gatun Lake, a part of the Panama Canal route. See also Panama Canal (Gatun Lake).
