Chenille << shuh NEEL >> is a fuzzy yarn made of cotton, silk, wool, or rayon. The word chenille means caterpillar in French. Chenille yarn is used to make rugs, fabrics, and fringes and tassels. Cotton bedspreads are often decorated with patterns of colored chenille. Some bathrobes also are made of chenille.
