Cinquefoil

Cinquefoil, << SIHNGK foyl, >> is a group of plants, mostly herbs, that produce colorful flowers. Cinquefoils grow wild in most cool and cold regions of the world. There are hundreds of species (kinds). A few species are erect or creeping shrubs. The leaves of cinquefoils consist of three, five, or more leaflets in a fingerlike or featherlike arrangement. Some species are called five-finger because of the shape of their leaves. The blossoms are bright yellow, orange, white, or reddish in color. Some cinquefoils are troublesome weeds. Other types are grown in gardens.
