Cockscomb is a flower with white, yellow, red, or purple heads shaped like a rooster’s comb or like an ostrich plume. It comes from tropical America and Asia, but people now grow the plant throughout much of the world. Cockscombs will bloom from midsummer until the fall frost if planted in light, rich soil that is kept damp.
