Connecticut, University of, is a state-supported land-grant university in Storrs, Connecticut. A land-grant university is partly endowed by the United States government under the Morrill, or Land-Grant, Act of 1862. The university has regional campuses in Groton, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, and West Hartford. It has a school of law in Hartford and a school of social work in West Hartford. The schools of medicine and dental medicine are in Farmington. The university was founded in 1881. Its athletic teams are called the Huskies.
