Cosmos, << KOZ muhs, >> are tall, late-summer flowers native to Mexico and the American tropics. Their flowers range from white and pink to red and orange, and may be double or single. Seeds may be planted outdoors after the ground warms, or they may be planted indoors in early spring and then transplanted a few weeks before summer. Cosmos are well adapted to full sun, and to light soil that is not too rich. They make good background plants or fillers among shrubs, and provide excellent cut flowers.
