Curzon, Sir Clifford

Curzon, Sir Clifford (1907-1982), was a British classical pianist. He won acclaim particularly for his intellectual grasp of music, attention to detail, and the driving intensity of his musical expression. His technique at the keyboard was masterly. Curzon was especially noted for his interpretations of the piano music of the Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Clifford Michael Curzon was born on May 18, 1907, in London. He entered the Royal Academy of Music in London in 1919 and also studied in Berlin and Paris. He first performed in public at the age of 16. He was knighted in 1977. Curzon died on Sept. 1, 1982.
