Dartmouth College

Dartmouth College is a private liberal arts school in Hanover, New Hampshire. Dartmouth College grants bachelor’s degrees in many fields. In addition to Dartmouth’s Graduate Arts and Sciences Programs, graduate studies are also available at Dartmouth at three associated graduate schools: Dartmouth Medical School, Thayer School of Engineering, and the Tuck School of Business. Dartmouth’s Baker-Berry Library is one of the largest United States college libraries. The Rauner Special Collections Library holds the library of Arctic explorer Vilhjalmur Stefansson and the Robert Frost Collection.

Dartmouth was founded at Hanover in 1769 under a charter granted to Eleazar Wheelock, a Congregational minister, by King George III of England. It developed from Moor’s Indian Charity School, founded by Wheelock about 1750 in Lebanon, Connecticut. The school’s athletic teams are called the Big Green.
