Delaware, University of, is a university in Newark, Delaware. In cooperation with two museums and a botanical garden, it offers graduate programs in early American decorative arts, the history of technology, art conservation, and ornamental horticulture. The university first opened as an academy in 1743. It became Newark College in 1833 and was renamed Delaware College in 1843. In 1921, it became the University of Delaware.
