The theme park occupies about 100 acres (40 hectares). The park skyline is dominated by Sleeping Beauty Castle, named for the animated Disney film Sleeping Beauty (1959). Disneyland consists of several “lands,” each with its own theme. The original lands were Main Street, U.S.A.; Adventureland; Frontierland; Fantasyland; and Tomorrowland. The park added New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country (now Critter Country) in 1972, Mickey’s Toontown in 1993, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.
