Duntroon, in the Australian Capital Territory, is the site of the Royal Military College, which prepares cadets for careers as officers in the Australian Army. The college houses the faculty of military studies of the University of New South Wales. Cadets participate in an intensive 18-month program emphasizing military leadership. Graduates of the college are commissioned as lieutenants and are awarded degrees in arts, science, or engineering. The college dates from 1911.
