Durham

Durham, << DUR uhm, >> is a scenic fortress town in northeast England. It stands on a hill surrounded on three sides by the River Wear. Durham Cathedral, begun in 1093, is a fine example of Norman architecture. A nearby castle is home to University College, Durham. Together, the cathedral and castle are a popular tourist attraction designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, an area of unique cultural importance.
