Enid

Enid, << EE nihd >> (pop. 51,308; met. area pop. 62,846), a city in north-central Oklahoma, is the center of a wheat-growing district. Enid is known for its grain elevators and flour mills. It has the largest grain storage capacity in the state. The city produces portable drilling equipment and processed meat products. Northern Oklahoma College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University have campuses in Enid. The city is the home of Vance Air Force Base. Enid is also home to several cultural sites and historic districts. Enid was incorporated in 1894. It is the seat of Garfield County and has a council-manager form of government.
