Field spaniel is a hunting dog. It has a flat, glossy coat that may be black, liver-colored, or roan. The dog also may have tan markings under its tail, and on its eyebrows, mouth, and feet. The field spaniel stands about 18 inches (46 centimeters) high at the shoulder and weighs from 35 to 50 pounds (16 to 23 kilograms). The breed originated in England in the mid-1800’s and is gaining in popularity in the United States. The field spaniel is intelligent and has great perseverance. See also Spaniel.
