Fire drill

Fire drill is an activity that is used to teach people how to leave any place safely and quickly if fire breaks out. By practicing a fire drill, people know how to act in a real emergency. They are able to exit a building with less fear and confusion. Fire drills are an important exercise for schools, businesses, and homes.

Most schools hold fire drills regularly so that students learn the fastest and safest way to leave the building. The teacher leads the class outside in an orderly manner. When the students are a safe distance from the school, the teacher makes sure everyone is accounted for. Schools also have classroom directional signs and red lights in hallways that show the nearest exit.

Most other public buildings also have posted signs that direct occupants to fire exits. Some buildings use warning lights, safety officials, and public address systems to guide people to safety.

Home fire safety drills are equally important. A home safety drill includes practicing how to quickly leave the home, gathering outside at an agreed-upon location, and accounting for all family members.
