Firth of Forth is the large mouth of the River Forth on the east coast of Scotland. The baylike firth connects with the North Sea. The Firth of Forth is 50 miles (80 kilometers) long and 30 miles (48 kilometers) wide at its widest point.
One of the world’s longest suspension bridges spans the firth at Queensferry. The bridge was completed in 1964. It is 8,244 feet (2,513 meters) long and has a 3,300-foot (1,006-meter) center span. A cantilever railroad bridge 1.5 mile (2.5 kilometers) long also crosses the firth at Queensferry. It was completed in 1890.
