Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park lies in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina. Fort Sumter was authorized in 1948 as a national monument to memorialize the American Civil War (1861-1865). Nearby Fort Moultrie, with a history dating from the American Revolution (1775-1783), was added to the national monument in 1960.
