Game

Game is the name given to most wild animals, especially those sought for the sport of hunting or fishing. Game may be killed to obtain fur, skin, antlers, or horns. People can use game for food, clothing, or trophies. Large wild animals–such as antelopes, bears, deer, lions, and wild sheep–are called big game. Smaller animals, such as rabbits and squirrels, are called small game. Certain birds, including grouse, pheasants, and quail, are called upland game. Doves, waterfowl, and wild pigeons are examples of migratory game birds. Game fish range from trout found in lakes and streams to giant marlin that live in the ocean.
