Geographic center of North America is in Pierce County, North Dakota, just southwest of Rugby. A cairn (stone pile) marks the spot. The U.S. Geological Survey defines the geographic center of an area as “that point on which the surface of the area would balance if it were a plane of uniform thickness.”
