Getty Trust, J. Paul, is a private foundation that promotes education, conservation, and scholarship in the visual arts and related humanities. The trust is one of the largest foundations in the United States. It was established by American business executive J. Paul Getty in 1953. The Getty Center in Los Angeles is the home of most of the programs sponsored by the trust. The most popular attraction at the center is the J. Paul Getty Museum, with its extensive art collections, and an elaborate central garden.
The trust also operates the Getty Villa in Malibu, California. The villa is a re-creation of an ancient Roman country house with gardens. It exhibits art from ancient Greece and Rome.
