Gideons, << GIHD ee uhnz, >> International is an association of Christian business and professional men. It promotes the Christian gospel and the acceptance of Jesus Christ as each individual’s personal Saviour.
Gideons International was formed in Janesville, Wisconsin, in 1899. In 1908, the association began placing Bibles in hotel rooms. Since then, the Gideons have distributed more than 500 million Bibles and New Testaments with Psalms and Proverbs to hotels, motels, hospitals, and prisons, and to students, public nurses, and military personnel. The association is active in more than 180 countries. The international headquarters are in Nashville, Tennessee.
