Glastonbury, << GLAS tuhn `behr` ee, >> is a town in southwestern England. Glastonbury lies in the Mendip district of Somerset County. It is a center of service and light industry. An annual music festival draws thousands of concertgoers to the town.
According to tradition, Joseph of Arimathea founded England’s first Christian church in Glastonbury. The ruins of an abbey, founded in the A.D. 700’s, lie in the town. Glastonbury is the setting for some of the legends about King Arthur.
