Great Pyrenees is a large breed of dog developed in the Pyrenees mountain chain of southwestern Europe. For centuries, it has served people there by guarding sheep. The dog stands 27 to 32 inches (69 to 81 centimeters) high at the shoulder. It has a thick, primarily white coat, a heavy head, and a rolling walk.
