Greenway, John Campbell (1872-1926), an American mining engineer and soldier, led in the development of mining and transportation in Arizona. He went to Arizona in 1910 and became an executive in a mining company, a lead company, and a railroad. Greenway served as a Rough Rider during the Spanish-American War and as a lieutenant colonel in World War I (see Rough Riders ). A statue of Greenway represented Arizona in National Statuary Hall in the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., from 1930 to 2015, when it was returned to Arizona. The statue was replaced by one of Sen. Barry Goldwater, who was chosen as a more modern representative of the state. Greenway was born on July 6, 1872, in Huntsville, Alabama. He died on Jan. 19, 1926.
