Guadalupe << `gwahd` uhl OOP or `gwahd` ah LOO pay >> Mountains National Park, in western Texas, contains one of the most significant fossil reefs in the world. Guadalupe Peak (8,749 feet, or 2,667 meters), Texas’s highest point, stands in the park. Congress authorized the park in 1966. It was opened to the public in 1972.
