Hartlepool

Hartlepool (pop. 92,338) is a unitary authority (local government area) centered on the industrial town of Hartlepool in northeast England. The town is a seaport and an important supply base for the North Sea oil industry. Other industries include engineering and the production of electronic goods and textiles. The area contains the seaside resort of Seaton Carew. Inland, farming is the main industry. Hartlepool was part of the county of Cleveland until that county was abolished in 1996.
