Hasluck, Sir Paul (1905-1993), was governor general of Australia from 1969 to 1974. He served as minister of territories from 1951 to 1963; as minister of defense from 1964 to 1969; and as minister of external affairs from 1969 to 1974. He was Australian minister to the United Nations in 1946. He was elected first to the House of Representatives for Curtin, Western Australia, in 1949, as a member of the Liberal Party.
Hasluck was born on April 1, 1905, in Fremantle, Western Australia. He was knighted in 1977. He died on Jan. 9, 1993, in Subiaco, Western Australia.
