Henday, Anthony, an English fur trader and explorer of the 1700’s, was the first white man to visit the Blackfoot people in Canada, and to report on their customs and habits. He left Hudson Bay in 1754 to travel to the Saskatchewan River. He made important explorations in what is now the province of Alberta . He was born on the Isle of Wight.
