Historical Association, American, is an organization that promotes historical study and research in the United States. The association, often called the AHA, seeks to protect academic freedom and to encourage the collection and preservation of historical documents and artifacts. It publishes the American Historical Review journal and Perspectives on History news magazine. The AHA was founded in 1884. Its headquarters are in Washington, D.C.
