Iloilo

Iloilo, << `ee` loh EE loh >> (pop. 457,626), is one of the chief ports of the Philippines. The city lies on the southeastern coast of Panay Island, in the Visayan Islands of the Philippines. The Iloilo River flows through the city and forms an excellent harbor. The city is the chief shipping port for nearby Negros Island, a sugar-producing center. Iloilo is a cultural center of the Visayan Islands.
