Integer

Integer, << IHN tuh juhr, >> is any positive or negative whole number, or the number zero. The set of all integers can be written as: {…, –4, –3, –2, –1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, …}. There are infinitely many integers. However, not all numbers are integers. For example, such fractions as 3/4 and –8/11 are not integers, but rational numbers. See Rational number .

The positive integers are sometimes called the natural numbers or counting numbers. Zero is sometimes included as a natural number as well.
