Inter-Parliamentary Union

Inter-Parliamentary Union is an organization of representatives of legislative bodies from throughout the world. The Inter-Parliamentary Union, often called the IPU, works for peace and cooperation among peoples and for the establishment of representative institutions worldwide.

The IPU’s membership includes national parliaments and associate legislative bodies. The organization holds two regular conferences each year and organizes special meetings to discuss specific issues. The IPU was founded in 1889. Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland.
